Thomas Lemar Scores Twice For France After Snubbing £90M Move To Arsenal


Thomas Lemar netted twice for France, as they crushed Holland 4-0 on Thursday night.
The Monaco winger put in an impressive display for his country, few hours after turning down a £90million transfer to Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger had targeted Lemar as a potential late signing and would have replaced Alexis Sanchez, who was heading to Manchester City in a 60million deal.
Lemar reportedly said no to the switch, as he does not want to play in the Europa League.
It is also understood that the French core at Arsenal – Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette – tried to convince him to make the move, but the 21-year-old’s mind was made up.
He went on to justify his selection by Didier Deschamps, hammering a half-volley into the top corner as the game entered its final 15 minutes. Lemar doubled his tally with a simple tap in from Antoine Griezmann’s square ball minutes later.
