Anambra Guber: Group Distances Self From Call For Uba’s Disqualification

A group, the Anambra Young Professionals, on Tuesday, disowned one Chukwudi  Okongwu who allegedly issued a press release on behalf of the group, calling for the  disqualification of Sen. Andy Uba from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for the Anambra governorship election.
The group said this in a statement it issued in Awka, Anambra State signed by Dr. Okey Onwughalu and Mr. Samuel Nnadozie.
“It has come to our notice that one Chukwudi Okongwu issued a press release in our group’s name where he unilaterally called for the disqualification of Senator Andy Uba from contesting the primary election of the All Progressives Congress for the November 18 elections.
This Chukwudi Okongwu in that statement alleged that Uba was not qualified to govern Anambra for a number of petty reasons which smacks of portraying AYPF as a group of hirelings and gangsters rather than as professionals that we are.
“ AYPF as a body of professionals wish to state that at no point in time did the AYPF meet to discuss the qualification or disqualification of any aspirant, whether he be in the APC or any other party as we as a group do not concern ourselves with the business of any political party, so for anybody to issue a statement in our name , in Abuja for that matter is wrong and criminal of such a fellow who is even unknown to us as a group.
“This is not to say that We are not interested in politics, we are very interested but we as a group are non partisan.

‘We have never met in Abuja, no, we hold our meetings in Anambra here, issue our statements or communiques here, so for anybody to illegally use our name in Abuja for the purpose besmirching the name of any candidate is wrong and smacks of impersonation. “

The jailbirds, identified as Levontaye Ellington, Travis Baker, Maurice Robertson and Jacquiez Williams broke out of the Holmes-Humphreys County Correctional Facility in Lexington Tuesdayby hopping a fence, Mississippi News Now reported. Once in the clear, the men walked less than a mile to a Dollar General chain store after closing and swiped anything they could grab. “They stole cigarettes, cigarette lighters, phones and just items they felt they could sell in jail,” Lexington Police Chief Robert Kirklin said ac...
