Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is out of the Community Shield this weekend.
The Gunners are set to take on Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday for the season's curtain raiser.
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has now confirmed Coquelin will miss out through injury.
The 26-year-old limped off against Benfica in the Emirates Cup on Saturday and he will not recover from his ankle problem in time.
"He looks like he has a scan tomorrow (Monday) and I don't think he will be available for the weekend," said Wenger.
"He doesn't look bad, but he will not be available. [It is an] ankle problem, ligament."
